Vol. 9, No. 3 COUNCIL QUOTES The first Council Meeting of the new year was held in the Council Chambers Tuesday, January 11th Reeve Adamo and Councillors Desrosiers, MacLeod Sinotte and Kurylo were in attendance, also Clerk- Treasurer W. F. Strutt and Clerk W. Hanley. Appointment of Committees are as follows:- Municipal, Personnel, Finance, Hydro:- Chairman W. Adamo, Member R. Sinotte. Public Works, Water and Sanitation:- Chairman D. Desrosiers, Member W. Adamo. Public Relations, Town Planning, Chamber of Com- merce, Health and Welfare:- Chairman K. MacLeod ; Member W. Kurylo. Parks and Recreation:-- Chairman W. Kurylo, Member K. MacLeod. Police and Fire:- Chairman R. Sinotte, Member D. Desrosiers. Appointments to the Recreation Association Board are T. Brown, J. Adamo and C, Buck. The Reeve has sent letters of congratulations to Mayors S. Laskin, Port Arthur, E. Reed of Ft. William, T. Osesky of Geraldton and Reeve G. Waghorn of Nipigon. Reeve Adamo and Councillors Kurylo and Mac- Leod will attend a Public Welfare Board meeting in Nipigon January 15th. A letter received from a resident regarding the dog situation (Cont'd Pg.4) Serving the Districr Januar 20, 1966 CENTENNIAL PLANNING COMMITTEE The Terrace Bay Centennial Planning Committee held its meeting Tuesday evening, January 11th. Many project ideas were reviewed and the Project Committee recommended that a park, monument, fountain complex be built. The election of officers was held with W. E. Cavanaugh, as Chairman, Mrs. J. Marcella, Vice- Chairman, Secretary-Treasurer, W. Hanley, Kim- berly-Clark representative, H. P. Ratchford, Ladies' co-chairman, Mrs. D. Evans-Smith and men's co- chairman, B. Matiowsky . Plans were suggested by Mr. Cavanaugh for different activities which may be held during | Centennial Year such as Inter-Faith meetings for Thanksgiving and New Years. A Winter Car- nival will be held with many outdoor activities and sports competition, eighteenth century dress for many different events. Mr. Matiowsky sug- gested that an Ethnic Group Folks Art Caravan be invited to Terrace Bay and that the different groups of people in town take an active part.
