An executive meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Branch 223, Royal Canadian-Legion will be held Thursday, October 8th, at 8:00 P.M. at the home.of Mrs. P. Coupal . ---- Saturday, October Wth, is the First Birthday of the Ladies Auxiliary, and they will celebrate it with a birthday party in the Curling Club Lounge. The Dance to follow will be open for members and their guests with an admission being charged. GIRL GUIDE ASSOCIATION MEET e regular fall meeting of the Girl Guid Associa- tion was held on Tuesday evening at the home of the Chairman Mrs. J. Mikus. Mrs. Mikus welcomed those present and introduced Mrs. E. Kettle who will be in charge of Brownie registrations replacing Mrs. P. Gombola. Mrs. R. Hofland will take over as Uniform Convenor until the return of Mrs. J. Brooks. The minutes and correspondence were read by Mrs. K. Turner and Mrs. A. Farrow gave the Treasurer's report. The various convenors gave their individual reports. Badge Secretary Mis. L. Phillips reported ten badge slips and two Golden Hands passed during the summer. Mrs. A. Fraser, Camp Convenor reporte thirty-six Guides and Brownies attended various camp this summer and the Association expressed their grati- tude to the parents who supplied transporation, the stores who donated various items and the ladies who went as leaders and cooks making it possible for those girls to attend camp. Schreibe GIRL GUIDE ASSOCIATION MEET (Continued) : Mrs. Mikus announced that she had just received word that Margaret Wallwin, Valerie Turner and Pat Simmer successfully passed their Pioneers Badge at Polly Lake this summer. Those who visited the Music 'Camp on Wheels found it an enjoyable experience Several resignations from Guide and Brownie lead- ers were read with deep regret. The Association would appreciate hearing from any ladies who could help as leaders or even helpers for one evening a week. Those interested may contact Mrs. J. Mikus at 3640. As new leaders are expected, the Associa- tion would appreciate if hats, dresses and belts still out, be returned as soon as possible. The meeting closed with lunch. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. K. Turner on Oct. 26 CATHOLIC GIRLS' CLUB MEET e Catholic Girls' Club meeting took place on Sunday, in the church basement, preceded by recita- tion of the rosary. Plans were made for the girls' penny sale table at the bazaar and volunteers were requested to serve. Father carried out a quiz programme which the - members enjoyed. The meeting then adjourned and the girls worked on mission projects. Some girls played badminton, others served tea and cake. SOCIAL NEWS r. and Mrs. V. Hopper and daughter Joan left to attend funeral serviees Tuesday, in Sturgeon Folls for her Mother, Mrs. Angus Cockburn. Sympathy is extended to Lois and family. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. B. Baillie who celebrated their thirty-sixth wedding anniversary on Tuesday, October 6th. Mrs. K. Anderson 'left last week to join her husband Jack and famil in their new home in Iroquois Falls. Their son Fred departed previously for Saskatoon, Sask. to again attend High School there while residing with his uncle Mr. E. Ford Before leaving Kay was honoured 'jointly with Mrs. Stella LeBlanc by their Bridge club when they met at the home of Mrs. J. Adamo. Wallets and best wishes were given
