AWARDS PRESENTED AT BRIGADE INSPECTION Doctor David Freebury was presented with his Division Surgeon's Warrant by Brig. Eric Snow, OBE., C.D., at adinner given by St.John Ambulance A/N Division in the Guild Hall. R. Wills of Terrace Bay was Master of Ceremonies and others at the head table were F.W.Farwell, Prov .Staff Officer, Mrs. Helen Jartus, Corps Staff Officer, Mrs. Dorothy Rummery, Branch President and Division Supt., Rev.R.J.S.Inshaw and Mrs.Inshaw, Hon .President, Rev.J.M.Cano, Rev. Fraser Muldrew and Mrs. Metre Muldrew and Mr.and Mrs. Wallace Cringle. On behalf of the town council Mrs.L.R.~.McCuaig extended greetings and expressed their appreciation in having trained personnel available for protection at public gatherings in the town. She also congratu- lated the local team which recently won a trophy in first-aid competition at the Lakehead, taking first prize on points. Mr .Wills expressed the regret of the Branch and Division in losing Constable Cringle who had been both able and constant in his work with the associa- tion. Following dinner the ninth annual inspection was held in the Town Hall, attended by a very large audience. An exhibition on care of a bed patient was given by women members with Mrs. Rummery doing the commentary. Brigade men demonstrated improvis- ing a stretcher out of poles cut in the bush and using such jackets as might be on hand. They also showed how to blanket and lash a patient on a stretcher for safe carrying in difficult places. D ennis Levigne was the stretcher case and Miss Bee McBride the bed [patient for nursing care. In his address Brig.Snow suggested the field of work could be widened to include more welfare. He also urged the Division to retain as cadets the many girls who receive certificates and to make energetic effort to secure boy cadets as well. Mr .Farwell warmly congratulated the trophy-win- ning team and their instructors and encouraged the Division to seek further laurels in competition. The welcome address was given by Steve Ross and the school choir sang the school song "No Man Is An Island" and selections from The Sound of Music. Rev. Dean Gallagher of Terrace Bay was guest speaker .
