O ne H4 THE CRINGLE FAMILY LEAVE AFTER NINE YEARS Const.W. J. (Wally) Cringle has been transferred to Ontario Provincial Police @PP _head- quarters in Port 'Arthur, effec- tive June 22, after having served with the local detachment over nine years. Friends in the community gathered in the United Church hall June 17 to honor Mr. and Mrs. Cringle and pay tribute to the part they have taken in community affairs. Const. Cringle was leader of the cubs for some years, when he resembled a Pied Piper since always in his wake trailed a horde of vociferous small boys. He did the spade-work in or- ganizing the local branch for St. John Ambulance and later was elected superintendent of the Schreiber - Terrace Bay divis- jon. He assisted in high school ca- det corps training and served on the board of stewards in the United church and on many of its committees. Mrs. Cringle was a member of the United Church Women, sang in the senior choir, and was an associate matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Silver Birch Chapter, Terrace Bay-Schreiber. | On behalf of the U.C.W. its president, Mrs. T. P. Whent pre- sented a gift of jewellery to Mrs. Cringle. and on behalf uf community friends. J. B. Rids- dale presented the Cringles with a set of living room lamps and eleciric kitchen clock with their good wishes. During the evening Rev. Mul- drew, with Dianne Rummery as pianist, led a rousing sing-song 'and later Diane played several 'solos. Mrs. W. M.
