Val. 7 No. 4 SUPERIORS FLYING! ! Last week was "mop-up" week for the Terrace Bay Superiors as they took three out of three games and surged to an eight point lead in their run for the _ North Shore title. On Thursday they manhandled Marathon 9 - 4 in the fastest, cleanest game of the year. Supes were in complete control of the game throughout and might easily have doubled the score. Weekend games at Wawa saw the locals sweep the series by scores of 8 - 2 and 10 - 3. The Ironmen stayed with Terrace Bay for the first two periods of the Saturday game but melted under the fast skating set by the visitors and never did recover. Coach Paulsen reports that it was another case of the "team' effort that has been the keynote of Supes' victories this year. However, he was especially pleased with the play of youngsters Webb and Woodruff . Supes continue play this Thursday when they play host to Schreiber in the Terrace Bay Arena. MINOR HOCKEY LEAGUE NEWS The Western Division Minor Hockey schedule got under way last week with the Schreiber PeeWees and Bantams playing at the local arena. In the PeeWee game Terrace Bay defeated Schrei- ber 5 = 0 with Tommy Schock scoring two goals and singles going to Desaulniers, Rennette and Mahoney. In the Bantam game Terrace Bay defeated Schrei- ber 7 = 2. Scoring for Terrace were Fedorak with two goals with singles going to LeBlanc, Black, Papineau and Fedun. Webb and McParland scored for Schreiber . On Saturday the Nipigon Bantams and Midgets visited the local arena and Terrace Bay took both games, the Bantams winning 5 - 2 and the Midgets 10 - 1. For the Bantams, M. LeBlanc scored three goals and J. Papineau two while Dampier scored both goals for Nipigon. Scoring in the Midget game _were:-- Turner with three, Falzetta two, Stachiw two and singles going to Rennette, Phillips, Heenan and D. Schock while LaFramboise scored the only Nipi- gon goal . On Sunday our three teams travelled to Red Rock and were not quite so fortunate. The local PeeWees lost to Red Rock by the score of 4 - 2with T. Schock scoring both goals. The Bantams also lost 5 = 1 with T. Black scoring the lone goal. Both T. Black and J. Papineau had to retire from the game with minor injuries, however, both should be ready for the next game. The Midgets salvaged the only win with a 4 - 0 score, Stachiw scoring two of them and Solly and Coates with singles. -P hoto by George Wheeler Dorothy-Jeanne Kennedy, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Supes just finished a three game sweep over Mara- thon and Wawa, while the North Stars are flexing their young muscles after a victory over Marathon. GOOD ANGLING ASSURED The Dept. of Lands & Forests is looking several years ahead to continued good angling as more than two and a half million brook trout, and Atlantic sal mon eggs are being processed at the Dorion Hatchery In addition, there is at present a stock of lake trout eggs transferred from the Pt. Arthur Hatchery due to local water conditions. When the eggs reach the eyed stage, transfers to other Lands & Forests hatcheries will be made.
