Mr. and Mrs, Charlie Nesbitt are visiting their son Lorne and his family in Castlegar,RB Mrs. N. McCuaig and Mrs. W.G. Furlonger were in Fort William this week visiting district San patients. Mrs. Robert (grandma) Weaver was taken to Terrace Bay Hospital on Monday. | BROWNIE HALLOWE'EN PARTY The @¢static giggling of 38 Brownies at their Halloweten party made the welkin resound as they surveyed each others' costumes. Brown Owls Mrs, Kay Stefurak and Mrs. Marcy ' Cebraric, assisted by Tawny Owls Mrs. June Sisson, Mrs. Igrid Fournier, Mrs. Mary Shack and Mrs. Nellie Stewart, marched the girls in circles before the judges who, after much consideration, awarded prizes as follows:- e 13 group one, fancy, ballet dancer - Cathy Bottomley; original, Debby Caccamo, a skunk; comic, Cindy Einarson and Alanna Power ~ baby and Mother; group two - fancy, Karen Guina - Maurice Chevalier; original, Lola. Scott - pumpkin; comic, Karen Cuina - pussycat. The judges, Father Cano, Mrs. LR. Tremblay and Mrs. L. R. McCusig were considerably. entertained to find that twins Kathy and Karen Guina were wearing costumes devised by their grandmother almost 25 years ago. Kathy*s frock coat was the identical one worn by her aunt Lorna and although Karen's cat outfit was a new one its earlier model had won a prize for her mother years ago. The United Church Hi - C's had' their Halloweten party on Friday evening, enter- taining the Terrace Bay group. The costumes were in a wide ransze from comic to fancy and a good time was had by all. Fummerton has been written-up in The Beaver, Canadian Army Magazine published in Germany as follows:- Soltau, Germany - Ask Sign. Norm Fummerton what the most overworked words in his vocabulary are and he is certain to answer "Number please". Sign. Fummerton, a member of the 4th Squadron, Royal Canadian Corps of Signals, is switchboard operator at the main headquarters of the Brigade Group, currently undergoing intensive training at Soltau. The 22 year old Schreiber man handles over 600 calls daily during an 8 hour shift. He and three others operate the board 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Calls are not restricted to Germany alone but come from European countries such as France, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, England, Scotland, Wales, lreland and Denmark. Two or three days ago Sign. Fummerton was start- led to hear a voice saying "Montreal calling". The mother of a soldier had died and his relatives were trying to get in touch with him. In the space of a few minutes, he had located the soldier and had him talking to his family. Emergency matters such as this are routine for Sign. Fummerton who has handled } Canadian Army switchboords in Camp Gagetown, NB. the Gaza Strip in Egypt and here on the heather=: clad slopes of famed Luneberger Heath. Norman enlisted in the Canadian Army in Oct. 1948, and was posted to the Royal Canadian School of Signals at Kingston. Upon completion of training he went to 3rd Signals Sqdn. located at Camp Gagetown, NB. Later he served with the 56th Sqdn. | as part of the U.N.Emergency Force on the Gaza Strip in Egypt. Upon return to Canada, he joined the Manitoba Signals Sqdn. with headquarters at Winnipeg. He came to Germany in August of this
