MINOR BASEBALL NEWS Champions have been declared in the National and Bantam leagues, and one game remains to decide the champion of the National league. After trailing the league all year, Tony Delaronde' YANKEES overcame the league-leading INDIANS coached by Henry Hermes, to take the American league championship. This league was hotly con- tested by all three teams, and sincere thanks go to Tony, Henry and Hugh Hamilton of the TIGERS, along with their assistants, Ricky Dorman, Brian Pineault and Terry Black, and to umpires Fern McLeod and Jimmy Hayes. In the Bantam League, Jerry Papousek's REDS took league honours by upsetting the WHITES coached by Clifford Knauff, Jr., and the BLUES coached by Ed © Pineault. Playoffs dragged slighly because of poor attendance by some of the players, and all three coaches are to be congratulated for the extra efforts they made to make sure the league was completed. Final game in the National league between the BRAVES and the GIANTS will be played Wednesday afternoon at 4:15. Each team has won once, and this is the sudden death final. Coaches Murdo Campbell, Len Swirhun and Jack Crandlemire hope their league-winning BRAVES can revert to form to take the championship, while coaches Don Fedun and Fred Erickson of the GIANTS are sure they can pull an upset. This will be a game worth watching. All-star teams will now be formed from the National and Bantam leagues for competition against outside teams. Coaching the National teagte. All-+stars will be Len Swirhun and Murdé Campbell, and coaching the Bantam All=stars will be Ed Pineault and Jerry Papousek. These coaches will call practices in the near future and will contact the players they would like to have turn out.
