On November 2 ~ 3, twenty-one delegates from seven provincial Fish & Game organiza= tions will hold a two day meeting at the /Chateau Laurier, These delegates represent {750 logal associations with a total membership jin excess of 150,000 outdoor sportsmen, Pro- vincial groups from Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland are expected to affil-~ late in 1963, The Founding Convention 6f the Canadian Wildlife Federation is the result of action undertaken just one year ago at the "Resourc- es for Tomorrow" Conference in Montreal, At that time a unanimous decision of intent to form a national body was expressed by sports-= men delegates in attendance, The follow-up action in forming the Canadian Wildlife Federation is thought by many to be one of the greatest tangible dividends of that im portant conference, 4 five man Working Committee with Stan Hodgkiss, President of the Ontario Federation of Hunters and Anglers, as Chairman has successfully worked out all preliminary de- tails during the past year, Other Committee members were: Ralph Olive, President, New Brunswick Fish & Game Protective Associa= tion; Ted Glendenning, Director of the Quebec Federation of Fish & Gaine Associations; Ed Heade, Secretary Manager of the British Columbia Federation of Fish & Game Clubs; - and: Paul Murphy, Executive Director of the Manitoba Federation of Game & Fish Associa-= tionse This Working Committee's responsibilities terminate at next week's Convention, Elec- tion of officers to head the national body will take place at Ottawa following consti- tution ratification, The existing provincial organizations have long felt a need for a national body. Many matters of their concern are under the juris- diction of federal agencies, The Canadian Wildlife Federation will provide the instru- ment to present the organized sportsmen!s views on matters of federal control, # A representative from the National Wild- life Federation, the U,S, counterpart, will attend the Convention, giving delegates the benefit of twenty-five years experience in operating on a nation wide basis, One of the major purposes of the Federa= tion will be to promote the cause of conser= vation throughout Canada.
