CURLING NEWS The annual meeting of the Terrace Bay Men's : Curling Club was held in the club lounge on October 5th with President Jim Clancy in the chair, Several important items of business were discussed, It was agreed that skips will be allowed to ; choose their own rinks; that the squad system of curling, the same as last year, will be used; that dues will be $30 for regular members, $15 for associate members; that ice fees will be $1.00 per player per game for non-members, It was also agreed to start the first draw at 63:30 P.M, and the second draw at 8:45 P.M, This should insure completion of the second draw by 11 P,M,., giving shift workers ample time to get ready for work at midnight, It is expected that curling will commence early in November, The first big event will be a "Grand Opening Spiel" in which every mem- ber of the Recreation Association will be invited to participate, Our new club facil- ; ities will be officially opened at this time, There was considerable discussion at the meeting on the subject of club sweaters, A cardigan type sweater in dark blue with white trim and a shawl collar was on display and was well accepted, However, it was de- ; cided to order other samples and to canvass the membership for opinions as to style and colour, Each member will receive a question- naire in the near future, A special general meeting will likely be called to settle the question, ; Sandy Crawford was appointed Membership Chairman to fill the vacancy on the executive, Membership forms will soon be available so skips, both veterans and rookies, should "Get Crackin" and round up a rink, ee ee } | {
