Jack Phillips, to the good and the bad'in games played last week, At Red Rock last Thursday, Terrace Bay won a sus- pended game in extra innings, 3 to 2, behind the relief pitching of Rex Taylor, then went on to win the regular contest behind Carl Kolody, 2 to 0, Then on Sunday at Port Arthur, the COMETS dropped two by scores of 5 to 1 and 4 to 3, being blanked by a no-hitter in the first game, In an attempt to find a non-playing coach, the COMETS were fortunate in being able to obtain the services of Jack Phillips, who has a vast experience in baseball behind hin, This experience will prove valuable in the drive for the play-offs and in the 'play-offs them- selves, During the next few dette the COMETS will be holding several fund-raising events in an attempt to get out of the red and to build up a travelling fund for the coming play-offs, This week they will commence another home bingo, and oards may be obtained from any member of the Baseball Club, The following Saturday (July 8th), the Club will hold a bottle drive in another at- tempt to raise money, Since crowd support has been so poor, it is hoped that the local people will support the COMETS in these two ventures. RED ROCK SWIM MEET The first of the three tri-town North Shore swim meets was held at Red Rock last Saturday, with the Red Rock swim team nosing out Marathon for the point championship, Terrace Bay finished well behind the other two teams, primarily because of the fact that we still have a problem in getting the older swimmers out' to help the team, The other two meets will be held later in the summer, probably in Marathon on August 18th and. Terrace Bay on August 25th, IN THE MEANTIME THE TERRACE BAY SWIM TEAM WORKOUTS WILL BE HELD EVERY MONDAY, WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY AT 11 A.M, AT THE SWIMMING AREA, There is no doubt that we are hampered in the competitive swimming because of our poor water conditions and weather; however, as was proved last year when Terrace Bay came very close to winning the competitions, we can provide a close contest if the older swimmers will get out and practise in an attempt to assist the team, Anyone is welcome to try out for the teams, so please turn out on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 11 A.M, to help prepare a better team for the next two meets, THE FOREST WORKS FOR YOU - DON'T FIRE IT § Servin tnd District in which we live LAKEHEAD FIRM AWARDED.
