First they intended to make available the property adjacent to the Recreation Centre and secondly they would match contributions from the townspeople up to a maximum of Fifteen Thousand Dollars spread over a five year period, By-Law 146 was read and passed setting _ the Tax rates as' follows: General, Residen- tial 11,39 mills, Commercial 12.66 mills, Town Area 28,66 mills, Public School 12.73 mills, Highschool 11,80 mills, Separate School 15,98 mills; making total rate of Public School Residential of 64,58 mills, Commercial 65,85 mills, Separate School Re- sidential 67,83 mills and Commercial 69.10 mills, Dates for payment of taxes were es- tablished as July 31 and September 30th, A penalty of One-half of One percent per month will be imposed for late payment, Deputy Reeve Evans-Smith reminded Coun- cillors of their wish to present lapel pins to the All-star Bantam hockey team who had been the district champions, Council agreed to purchase a minimum of fifty pins for this type of award, The Deputy Reeve also sug- gested Councillors bring in recommendations for a replacement to Mr, Oren Mason on the High School Board to the next meeting of Council, He further recommended the Medical Officer of Health. and School Nurse be in- vited to attend a meeting shortly. Enquiries about the landscaping program were made by Councillor Fraser. Councillor Wellings felt they could get local bids on landscaping and also on the repairs to the Post Office Steps, Councillor Fraser also suggested as a Brewers Retail appeared to be coming into the District, they be advised of the availability of locating in this town.
