ON DISTRICT: HIGH SCHOOL QUESTION == WHAT'S BEST FOR, THE STUDENTS? ; On Page 1 we report on the latest "develop- 'ment in the District High School Question, Our queries have elicited the information that the Schreiber and Terrace Bay High School, Boards can 'come to no agreelilent on the site of the proposed school, A; 70-30. percent split on the Building,' Maintenance and Transportation costs offered by Terrace Bay has been rejected by Schreiber because the. weight of public opinion, they say, is against having the building in Terrace Baye - The Department of Education, leading- educators, High School teachers and many residents of both towns are agreed that our High School age youngsters will be provided with better facilities and a more extensive curriculum if one High School, is built to service both towns. Has public opinion really had a chance to make itself heard? . Is the ultimate goal the prestige to be derived from having the building itself in one town or the other, or is it what will be best in: the long run for-our youngsters?? Could anything be gaified. by having a- district mass meeting at which time the School Boards would air their views and public opinion be given a chance to assert itself openly? , NIGHT 'SCHOOL MILLINERY COURSE It's a little early in this reporter's millinery career to predict the "shape" of things but a first night attendance at _Millinery Class conducted weekly by Mrs. Ae Hartman inthe Terrace, Bay High School was a bit of a revelation, if not fashion wise, it was "school" wise. Gone was the .student-. teacher-assignment atmosphere} Instead there was. the flutter of trying on "shapes"- picking out colors and materials - doubts (did I pick the right color, etc.) - flowers | or straw cloth for this or that one - and the gay but muted bedlam that only a group o wohien intent on creating hats can creates It promises to be an exciting and,. we hope; rewarding semester (Cont'd on Page 12)
