They also visited at the Soo enroute home, Richard Jeanneret, son of Mr, and Mrs. John Jeanneret arrived home from Toronto last } weekend having completed his Grade 13 at Earl Haig Collegiate. in Terrace Bay this summer, Mary Ellen Reynolds leaves Thursday for Kenora where she will work for the summer before entering the Kenora Highschool to take her Grade 13 next fall, Maryellen is the daughter of Mr, and Mrs, Art Reynolds. Home for the summer with his parents, Mr, and Mrs, Harry Hall, Terry arrived Saturday having taken Grade thirteen at the Lakeview Highschool, Port Arthur during the past term, Terry will remain for the vacation in Terrace Bay. Sharlene Pineault arrived home from New Liskeard, Ontario last week where she had been the guest of her aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Owen Jones while taking Grade 11 at the New Liskeard Highschool, Sharlene is the daughter of Mr, & Mrs, Ed Pineault. Vincent Kenney arrived home Saturday from Montreal to spend two wecks vacation with his parents Mr. & Mrs. Ray Kenney. Vincent was accompanied home by Miss Anne McIlhoney of Montreal. A picnic was held at the River Mouth Monday afternoon for Terry Lynn Pastor by her classmates who presented her with a gift. Terry Lynn leaves shortly to make her home in Chapleau. Rev. J.R. Anderson is spending a week in. Port Carling, where he is furthering his ministerial training by attending the Keswick Conference. Mr, and Mrs. Bill Cavanaugh have their daughter Peggy home from North Bay where she was a student at St, Joseph's Girls College, taking her Grade 11 last year. PUBLIC SCHOOL PUPILS PRESENT MUSICAL PROGRAM Music activities in the Terrace Bay Public School concluded their term Wednesday with a very fine musical afternoon in the Highschool Auditorium, produced and directed by Mr, A, Bishop. The program he presented was designed to show the integration of the music course from Kindergarten to Grade eight.. Each level emphasized the particular musical interest an need and the great variety of folk songs, and religious themes presented by the children indicated the progress made in the past season. The Kindergarten classes under their teach er Miss Ellen Ceasar sang "Happy Wednesday to Youtt before proceeding with their Bird Songs for Spring. Mrs. Hansen's Grade one class sang "A Little Grey Pigeon", "Good Morning, Merry Sunshine", and "The Organ Grinder." The Grade Two Class, Miss Raper*s room, gave a remarkable song and recitation number on "The Three Billy Goats Gruff", Miss Wood's Grade three class sang "Skip to My Lou! TOWN HALL-- JUN. | BINGO / the "Austrian Hym'", "Oranges and Lemons", | "Too Ril Te Too't, "The Brook", and "Pasquale",; Mr, Lakets Grade five pupils entertained with "My Donkey Diodoro, "Sweet Betsy from Pike", Fisher Maiden", "In The Plaza and "Squid Jiggin Ground", Mrs, Colborne's pupils from Grade six presented as their songs "The Keeper", "Marianina't, "0 Sole Mio", "Cielito Lindo" and concluded with the gay "Dancing, Dancing", Mr. Bishop's class of grade seven students sang "The Necklace", "Chiapanecas", "Sailor Jack" and were joined in the chorus by the audience for "Buffalo Gals", Grade eight class from Mr. Colbornefs room appeared to sing "Olive Trees are Standing", "Down in the Valley" and "The Road to the Isles" before they were joined to form a mass choir of Grad seven and eight to sing "How Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's Prayer", Contributing to the musical fare during the program were both the Junior and Senior Flute groups, again directed by Mr. A, Bishop. As a point of interest here, five of the Public School musicians have become permanent members of the Terrace Bay Band. Mr. Bishop is to be congratulated on his 'fine work with the pupils in the Terrace Bay Public School, both for his msic and flute classes. He leaves Terrace Bay to become the Music Supervisor of Fort Frances Public Schools this coming term. ST, MARTIN'S SEPARATE SCHOOL HOLDS FIELD DAY St. Martin's Separate School Field Day was held on Friday, June 23, sponsored by the Catholic Women's League and convened by Mrs. A, Ziegleman. Principal Mr. R. Kenney and his staff of teachers conducted the races and various events while the ladies of the C.W.L, assisted with the prizes and distributed cold drinks, ice cream and chocolate bars, A draw for a Gym set was won by Dorothy Campbell. Races and winners were as follows: - first named Ist prize, second named 2nd prize or equal, Girls Div, 1 - Kerry Waghorn, Sheila St. Louis, Div. 2 - Mary Lou Valiquette, Susan Boudreau.
