Maurice !Nipper! Osmar led all the way in the goal-getting department as he scored nine of the Superior!s twelve goals which may be a league record for goals scored in one game, Infact, scor- ing nine goals in one game will probably take some checking of records to establish just what the record is in organized hockey, Both teams were short of players and yet the play was fast and furious most of the time. Players tired at times and the pace lagged, but for the most part it was a fast wide-open hockey game as the score woald indicate, aD: Nipper Osmar opened the scoring early in the game--in fact he scored six consecu- tive goals, Mercuries retaliated quick and often. Going into the final stanza it was a tied hockey game. The Mercuriés quickly went into the lead but, with the plays of the Osmar Brothers clicking, Superiors came from behind to hold a 1l to 9 edge with minutes to go. Mercuries again threatened with a goal but Marvin Osmar banged in the insurance goal, For Superiors Nipper Osmar led with nine ; goals, Marvin Osmar scored two and assisted / on seven, Tom Pollard séored and Dave | Whalen came up with seven assists. DON'T GO OUT WITH THE OLD YEAR, HUNTER SAFETY TRAINING PROGRAMME WINS INTERNATIONAL AWARD An international award in recognition of its contribytion in the field of hunter safety training has bean received by the Ontario department of Lands and Forests, The cita- tion reads: "The National Rifle Association of America presents to the Province of Ontario this award of merit for outstanding achieve- ment in the field of hunter safety during the year 1959, as determined by a special comm---- ittee of the International Association of Game, Fish and Conservation Commissioners," In announcing the award, Louis F, Lucas, executive director of the National Rifle "Your province was select~ ed as having made an outstanding contribution in the field of hunter safety during the past year.
