June 17th at 7:00 P.M. and again in the large meeting room of the Recreation Centre, Pub- lic School ratepayers will nominate and elect Public School Board Trustees. The Kiwanis Club of Terrace Bay are sponr sors of a "Get Out and Vote" campaign and, with the services offered by this organiza- tion, only illness should prevent electors from turning out one hundred percent to vote in both the Municipal and Provincial Elec- tions, ; : We quote, in part, from a recently pub- lished notice regarding the nomination meet- ing. To comply with the Statutes, Municipal Electors of the Improvement District of Terr- ace Bay will meet in the large meeting room of the Recreation Centre at 7:00 P.M, on June 10th, for the purpose of nominating "fit and proper persons for the office of Reeve and Four Councillors for the Improve- ment District of Terrace Bay; of which all Electors are required to take notice and govern themselves accordingly, and if a greater number of candidates than required to fill the said offices are nominated and _ make the required declarations, polls will - be opened in the following places - The Curling Lounge Recreation Centre, in the said Improvement District of Terrace Bay on Wednesday, June 24th 1959, and will be open from 10 o'clock A.M. until 7 o'clock P.M., and no longer, It should be noted that when a proposed candidate is not present at the nomination meeting, his nomination paper will not be valid unless there is evidence satisfactory to the returning officer that the proposed candidate consents to be so nominated". --------o OOO THREAT OF FIRE IN TOWN AREA In the past two weeks we have had two grass and brush fires in the close vicinity of the town, There is definite evidence that both fires were started by children, Parents are reminded that fires of this nature at this time of year are a serious menace to life and property. The Fire Chief has asked full co-operation of parents and teachers in bringing the seriousness of this situation to the attention of children, keeping in mind that the setting of a fire is a violation of the law. This is for boys and girls of Terr- ace Bay and will cover both forthcoming elections - Provincial on June 11th and the Municipal Election on June 24th, Here's how it works: after you have voted in each of the above elections, you will be offered an "I HAVE VOTED" SLIP, Sign it and have it available for a child of your choice to collect. The BOY or GIRL in Terrace Bay who collects the most "I HAVE VOTED" slips after both elections are over, will be award- ed THE GRAND PRIZE - a brand-new wrist watch for a boy or girl. "I HAVE VOTED" slips are to be brought in for counting to the Recrea- tion Office at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June' 26th.
