The exact date of Nomination Day will be set by the Muni- cipal Board in Toronto and will be an- nounced at least six (6) days in advance by the Town Secretary-Treasurer who will be the Returning Officer. Nomination Meeting shall be called to order by the Returning Officer and Candi-.-. dates for each Office shall be, proposed and seconded. Every nomination shail, be in writing and state the name, residence © end occupation of the candidate, and resi- ' dence and occupation of preposer aud sece _ onder, both of whom shall be Municipal electors and present, Nominations shall be filed with the Returning Officer within- -one (1) hour from ope.ning of Nominations Meeting. When the proposed Candidate is not present the nomination paper will not be valid unless satisfactory proof is sub~ mitted to Returning Officer that he con- sents to be so nominated, Name, residence and occupation of all nominees must be posted up by Returning Officer at the Nomination Meeting or be- ~ fore 9 P.M, of same day. . 'Mr. Al McColl, speaking for the judges, Mrs. J.Ferrier, Mr. D,Evans-Smith and himself, spoke highly of "each and every contestant, their choice of subject and delivery, but they had been unanimous in feeling that James was 'the | exceptional contestant in the contest, Presenting the trophy, Mr. D.A.Locking, Prin- cipal of the Terrace High School, mentioned the fact the cup had originated in Schreiber and how the new schools along the North Shore of Lake Superior had been included in it's compe tition as they had come into being. .- Master of ceremonies Jack Stokes, on -hehalf of the Knights of Columbus, St.Edward!s Coun- | cil, who had sponsored the Oratorical contest, : oxpreaged their thanks to the students for © their efforts and the teachers or principals who had travelled, some of them a considerable distance, to accompany their school represen- | tatives. These were:- Mrs, Carton of Marathon, Mr, Locking with the Terrace Bay group, Mr. 'Meek with the Schreiber contestants and Mr. MacKay with the Nipigon-Red Rock class. Mr. Stokes also thanked Miss Pat McCann for the musical interlude she had provided during the evening's performances. First prize in the Senior Group (from - Grades eleven, twelve and thirteen) was award- ed to Gavin Boultbee of Marathon, the exception to the Nipigon Red-Rock sweep of the slate, and second prize in this catagory went. to Donna Billingsly of Nipigon Red-Rock, Along with © the trophy James Farrell received the Knights of Columbus first prize in the Junior group of the Grades nine and ten students, and second prize was awarded to Amy Marie Simpson of the Nipigon Red-Rock School.
