THRACE 4, MARATHON 3 A near capacity crowd ef 920 rabid Marathon and Terrace Bay fans paid to roar, cheer and jeer their respective teams to victory Thursday night in the Terrace Bay Arena, The game was not wholly settled until after the 19,58 mark of the third period when a spectacular goal by Kosolowgki of the Mercs was ruled as an offside play and left the Mercuries tail- ing a jubilant Superiors by four to three, At the opening whistle Superiors disorganized the powerful, Mercuries with an offensive and defensive play that put them to a two to zero lead for the period, Losing Brassard at the 0.20 and Desrosiers at the 1.14 point to the sinbin did little to ease the pressure applied to Marathon, Moro at 3.20 soloed for the apening goal. Still hungry the Superiors continued the pressure and were rewarded when Maurice Osmar combined with brother Marvin and Whalen at 7.39 to set them two up for the period on the Meres, Irving was given the dubious honour of holding these Dog and Cat teams under centrol, and was forced to levy further penalties to Desrosiers, Brassard and Evans of Superiors while Marathon playing more cautious only lost Lanteigne and Kapitan, Opening the second with the pane they left off in the first, Superiors again struck with the Osmar Brothers dinting the Marathon ego at 0,59. The Mercuries, however, found their stride and began to take over, breaking their geose egg at 6.26 when A, LeBlanc beat Weaver with the assistance of Amadeo and Kapitan. Kosolewski at 12,09 put the Mercs in the running to retire the Period three to two in favor of Superiors. Penalties eased off in this period, Campbell and Henderson taking time off for Marathon and Marvin Osmar, Hanson and Evans doing time for Supveriors. Marathon became the agressors during the penalty free third period, but lost out when Maurice Osmar with Marvin Osmar and Whalen put Superiors ahead at 3,2/, (cont'd. page 7) Page 6 MONSTER ENTERTAINMENT NITE - BINGO, BINGO DATE ~- Friday, February 22nd.
