3WE:T REVENGE !! Last Thursday night, before a screaming crowd of 748 paid admissions, Terrace. Bay's Superiors outfought and outskated the Marathon Mercuries to win a slam-bang hockey game by a very con- vineing 7-3 score. The Superiors had to win this one and win it they did. Never have they looked better as they put on . a great show before a fine and very appretiatéve crowd. ° From start to finish it was a rough~ tough bruising game as only a Terrace Bay-Marathon game can be. Body checks were a dime~a-dozen with the Superiors "absorbing most of them and while they . slowed down our forwards, they didn't . slow them down enough. In the final analyses that Thursday night, the speed, the passing, and most of all, the desire of our men more than offset the "very rugged Marathon defense led by Brady . and Hannigan, One or two men cannot be singled out in a victory of this kind because it' was strictly a team victory. If Marathon got past our forwards, our defence stopped them, and when the puck got through the defence, on all but three occasions, Weaver was more than equal to the task, 5o, from top to bottom, the Superiors were one mighty tough team to beat last Thursday, As for the game itself we don't have enough space to write all that should be written about it. The big line again was in top form scoring 5 goals with Maurice Osmar getting 3. However, I feel the turning point came when Moro stole the puck from Brady, went in on the goalie alone, and beat him. Not only did his goal give Terrace Bay a big 5-2 lead, but it reduced Brady's (cont'd. page 7) THIS-N-THAT The Superiors came through a rough week of hockey with flying colours and as a result, they're carrying a winning streak of 8 games going into tonight's contest with Red Rock at Nipnigon, The 8 straight victories vaulted the local six into first place, Although Marathon has one less loss, they have played fewer games so for now, the Suveriors are rid- ing high right on the top of the heap where, we feel, they ought to finish, Following is the unofficial league standings: Wins Losses Ties Points Terrace Bay 10 2 20 Nipigon 9 5 18 Marathon 8 ub 16 Red Rock 4 He ib 9 Geraldton 2 7 L Schreiber a '2 ai 2 ee ee Saturday's game with Nipigon was a good example of why our men are nerched in first place. The Nipigon defence all but stopped our high scoring forwards so the defencemen came through with three goals including 2 by Hansen thet pulled the game out of the fire, The team that beats Terrace Bay will have to stop every player we have, not just one or two, and that can be quite a job - just ask the other five teams in the learcue} Skok We were sorry to see Stachiw get injured Saturday night and the doctors say he'll be out for 6 weeks. If we know "Stach", he may be out for a while, but he'll be in uniform before 6 weeks have (cont'd. vage 8)
