Volume 6, No. 27 SUMMER PLAYGROUND PROGRAM STARTED JULY 2ND Our opening day, being a holiday, was a huge success, with junior boys and girls exploring the surrounding area in the form of a nature hike, which enced at the "old swimming hole", where games and water sports were conducted after they lunched. Varying oddities were gathered by our little adventurers for our future public display. Tuesday morning sent the Intermediate and Senior boys on the way to Canoe Lake, and on arriving they "skinny dived" and played games under the leadership of Marvin and Joe, Some of the older girls shared their first craft session, while others took part in softball under the surveillance of Gayle. They worked at spatter painting, colouring, pasting and lino blocks, Once again in the afternoon the beach was a scene of swimming lessons for the seniors and water games for the younger sets. IMPROVEMENTS This year the beach area will be put to better use with the addition of trick bars, separate horse-shoe pits for adults and children, The children in the pool are under careful instruction of Jim Fraser and lifeguard Marvin Steen, In the mornings the playground is con- ducted at the Centre, and at the beach area in the afternoons.
