CURLING CLUB NEWS A Meeting of the Terrace Bay yor i Club was held on May 9th, 1956. Ostling Any organization wanting to use the glasses belonging to the Terrace Bay Curling Club would be charged a fee of $1.00 and to make sure they would be cleaned up after- wards, Anyone not having their lockers cleaned out should do so in the near future, and these lockers will be alloted next season, 0-0-0 NOTICE The Recreation Committee would like to draw the attention of parents to the follow- ing motion - "No one under 15 years of age is allowed in the games room at the Recreation Centre unless accompanied by a parent or guardian," (Passed in 1955). This motion is to be strictly enforced and any parents with children in this age group are asked to, state their opinion of the motion to the recreation director or any member of the committee. Paget Mary Hale, Bert Ratchford and Ed Cavanaugh, > 0-0-0 FISH AND GAME NEWS TO_ALL BOYS 12 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER We of the Terrace Bay Fish and Game Association wish to help the boys in our community by teaching them whatever. we can about fishing, hunting, camoing and any other outdoor activities, All this will help you to become better fishermen and hunters and to have a greater appreciation.of the * wonderful outdoor life that we are able to enjoy while living in Terrace Bay, Our first program is.to be held on Saturday, June 23rd, at 1:30 p.m, All boys interested, should meet at that time in the large meebing room of the Recreation Centre, (cont, on next col. Page 9 FISH AND GAME NEWS (cont, ) We will show two films and then go down to the beach area at the river-mouth 'and see a demonstration of fly casting, plug casting and spin casting. There will also.be lessons on artificial respiration, water. safety and camp fires. . If-it rains, other subjects will be dealt with indoors at the Recreation Centre, There is no charge and, also, you do not need to bring any equipment such as fishing rods for this program. For further information, you may call Stan Hodgkiss at 408 or Ken MacLeod at 549. 0-0-0 TERRACE BAY FISH AND GAME ASSOCIATION The regular monthly meeting will be on Monday, June 25th - at 7:00 p.m, - in the small meeting room at the Recreation Centre. This should be an interesting session. Mr. Ryder, District Biologist of the Dept. of Lands and Forests will be in attendance to discuss points in connection with surveys of local lakes and our re-stocking projects. Two good films will also be shown, Lets have a good turnout --- all interested persons cordially invited, 0-0-0 HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY NEWS AND NOTES At last Friday's meeting of the Society, after the business meeting, Mr. D.J. Maat, of Fort William Wills Nurseries, gave a most interesting and informative talk. His timely subject was "Bedding Plants", He spoke briefly on working fertilizing and conditioning of the soil required for growing bedding plants in Terrace Bay. He outlined the three groups of anvals grown: border, mass flowers and background cut flowers. He gave the names, colours, varieties, growing habits and culture of each annual and how to plant them to obtain the best results and most charming effect. Mr, Maat answered numerous questions on gardening asked by those present, Two films, "Fungus Plants" and "Five Steps to Better Farm Living" were shown to complete the evening. The Society has in the Public Library a display of booklets and phamplets which contain much useful information on all phases of Horticulture, This information is yours by the use of this library,
