RECREATION FLYER (cont. ) TEEN CHATTER '2 oo HIGH SCHOOL ORCHESTRA eas BIG. HIT IN DEBUT! : ~~ Teen-agers were pleasantly surprised last Saturday night when the Auditorium curtains parted to reveal' the source of a very pleasant sound - that produced by Terrace High's first genuine orchestra. Those that were not there for this first performance of our local talent really -missed: the boat because it is undoubtedly a treat to dance to "live music", no matter whether Percy Faith or Podunk. The "TERRACE HIGH FIVE" to give the group a perfunctory title, is composed of high school (and Teen Town) members only. They are: Bob Adamo, tenor saxophone; Paul Marcella, alto saxophone; Roger LeBlanc, trumpet; Donna Lohr, piano; and Claude "Krupa" Boudreau, drums, Both Claude and Bob: are responsible for the organization of this dance, and Brenda MacDonald is:.to be commended for the time and effort she put into it. That about concludes this week's "gossip", meagre as it may have been, but don't worry, there is much more to come, P, A. Miller, « President. Megraw and Mr, G, Flater. we are pleased with these boys and the training they are receiving. Hach summer they attend a four-day summer camp. Boy Scouts: There are 23 boy scouts in our town, of which one attended the World Jamboree for Scouts last year. The leaders are Mr, B, Megraw, Mr. B. Kurylo; Mr. J. Anderson, Being older boys, they do a lot of work for the community. such as cloak checking and pop-selling concessions at our local dances, They sell Christmas cards each year to help out on their expenses, and they attend summer camp for one week each year, at which time they work to improve the grounds, facilities, etc. This involves quite a bit of labour on the part of the Scouts, and keeps each boy busy. We feel these boys are receiving a good training, which will assist them- greatly in their later years. We are quite proud of our Scouts, Cubs, Guides and Brownies. Brownies:. The enrollment this year in the Brownies is 44 girls, from 8 to 11 years of agee There are two packs of*22 each, who meet regularly once a week in our Recreation Centre. The girls maintain a regular attendance and there is a waiting list of children wishing to join the packs, The leaders of these packs are volunteers and give a great deal of their time to this work, The Brownie works until she has fulfilled certain requirements and qualifi- cations, when she then moves on to the Guides, Our Leaders - First Pack - Brown Owl - Mrs. J.
