IN TERRACE BAY : Three years ago nobody would believe that T.V. would be possible in Terrace Bay. The writer has been getting about 80% of good reception from Duluth, Superior and channels 5-6 in Green Bay. .In the last six weeks Marquette came on the air with a 100,000 watt transmitter which has defini- tely brought T.V. to Terrace Bay, Three years ago I parked myself in front of a T.V. set every night and watched nothing but heavy snow night after night. Since then a lot. of experimenting has been done and at quite an expense. Different antennas and towers at different heights and locations had to be tried be- fore finally some results were achieved. Even though reception is now available experimentation is still going on. The greatest obstacles' have now been overcome-- yes, now you can see a good clear picture and enjoy it. I can imagine a good many people reading this article saying, that. is all very well for the people who own or can afford T.V. sets, but what about us who can not afford to install a set, What about our radio reception which has suffered by T.V. interference? This complaint is quite common and justifiable. In reply to this complaint I would like to mention that some work has been done and I brought the problem before the cont. on next col.) Page 9 AN_OPEN LETTER ON T.V. IN TERRACE BAY Benco Engineers in toronto. They suggested pretty well what had already been done and which eliminated about 75% of the inter- ference. We are at present waiting for material which we hope will'do away with the greatest part of vate interference and maybe all of it, It is within the power of any radio owner to terminate television in Terrace Bay by notifying the department of trans- port of the interference caused by tele- vision. On the other hand you can make a contribution towards T.V. reception by putting up with this annoyance temporarily. Radio broadcasting is losing much ground to television so that everyone should be interested in seeing that encouragement is given to the few who. are endeavouring to bring television at its best in Terrace Bay.
