The tournament found five zone winners in the field competing for the Northwest- ern championship, Skips for the various rinks were as follows: Mrs. Vennes, Rainy River; Mrs. P. Cloghesy, Balmertown; Mrs, Forsythe, Port Arthur; Mrs. 0. Jalkinen, Nipigon; and Mrs, P. Wellings, Terrace Bay. Elsie Forsythe's Rink, a strong contender from the start won four straight games to make her the winner of the North- western Ontario Ladies! Playdowns. A Banquet honouring the visiting curlers was staged by the host club Friday evening in the Hotel Terrace under the auspices of the N.W.0.L.C, Association, Speakers ine cluded M. Hale, Association lst Vice- President - Welcome from host clubs; Welceme from N.W.O.L,.C.A. by Mrs. H. We. Watt; = Introduction of zone winners by J. Cassidy. Trophy & Prizes - Mrs. Watt. An Annual meeting of the N.W.O.L.CeAe was held immediately after the banquet. LADIES BONSPIEL Terrace Bay was host to 64 outside curlers from Schreiber, Marathon, Nipigon, Red Rock, Balmertown, Port Arthur and Fort William on the weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Twenty-two rinks were entered in the Ladies Second Annual 'Spiel which was high- lighted by a Banquet Saturday evening in Hotel Terrace. President, Elsie Ostling, gave a welcome address to all the curling visitors which was responded by Mrs, Ettienne P.A. on behalf of the visitors, All rink personnel was then introduced and some called on to show their individual talents off the ice, Some fine talent was displayed much to the enjoyment of their fellow curlers, (Cont. on next col,) Page 8 LADIES CURLING (Cont.)
