CONCERT SERIES Despite stiff opposition from hockey and various other activities connected with life in Terrace Bay, a few faithful followers were on hand last Thursday evening, January 26th to enjoy an evening of musical enter- tainment when the third corcert of this winter's series was presented at the High School Auditorium, Stars of the evening were: Andrea Hansen - violinist; Zenona Gawiak - soprano; James MacDonald - pianist and Salvatore Pantalone - baritone. Repeating her success- ful performance of last season, Miss Hansen again gave brilliant interpretations and as an encore, the popular Hora Staccato by Dinicu-Heifetz was her choice, Rallying from a sharp and sudden attack of influenza Miss Gawiak appeared on the second portion of the programme with selections of a lighter air, "Romance" from the Desert Song by Sigmund Romberg the most pleasing, Leader of the group was Mr, MacDonald, who, with his years of varied experience as a concert artist, gave a faultless per-~ formance, both, as soloist and accompanist, As encore,. Mr. MacDonald delighted all with his own short version of. the Warsaw Concerto by Adinsell, Mr. Pantalone.-- well-known 'on radio and television - thrilled his aud- idence with his showmanship. His magnificent voice lifted you from'the somber mood of "Evening Star" from Tannhduser to the snappy Creole folk song, "Michieu Banjo", A wonderful performance by a grand little 'group} News has just been received: that the very popular Commodores will be guest artists at the next concert on February 23rd, 0-0-0 TERRACE BAY INVITATIONAL BADMINTON TOURNAMENT Badminton players from the Lakehead, Schreiber and Marathon converged at.
