AROUND THE TOWN (Cont. ) An afternoon tea was held last Thurs- day in the Community Church enabling Arch= bishop Wright of Sault Ste, Marie to meet many of the people ef this congregation. Hostesses for the occasion were Mrs, Ruth Shirriff and Mrs, Lois Hopper, Mrs. Ruth Paget poured tea, t Mrs. Phil Woods and Tommy returned home last Sunday from a ten day visit in Winnipeg with her parents, Mr, and Mrs, Ty Dei DIT. Vange and Ron Slattery and their children, with Mrs. Mary Jane Pineault re- turned home recently from a motor trip to Toronto, Enroute down they stopped at Kirk- jand Lake to visit Vange's Aunt, Mrs, C, Pineault, and in Toronto they were guests of Ron's parents, Mr. and Mrs, John Slattery and his brother Ernie and family. They also visited his sister, Mrs, Eileen McTrash and family in Milton before coming home by way of the states, Dot and Peter Shrier with their family arrived home Saturday. They had enjoyed a trip to Duluth and to Winnipeg where they visited with relatives, returning home on the Canadian side of the border, The Dim Bulbs met at the home of Mrs, Lil Harris Tuesday evening, and enjoyed an evening of games and movies, High winners at the games were Lois Haviland and Ethyle Boyd, while low were Helen Boudreau and Eleanor Rugyski, A tasty luncheon was served by the hostess assisted by Ethyle Boyd, The next meeting will be on October 25th at the home of Mrs, Dot Shrier, Mrs. T. Gibbens arrived Sunday from North Bay bringing with her Mary Pat and Reggie Cavanaugh who had been their guests for the past summer, eee Joe Cavanaugh entertained 10 wee youngsters, Tuesday afternoon September 27th in honor of her daughter Mary Pat's fourth birthday, Games were enjoyed with prizes and treats received followed by a lovely birthday cake and luncheon, DEMAS ~ YAROMY NUPTIALS Large bouquet of shrimp coloured gladioli and white asters decorated St, Martin's Roman Catholic Church at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 24th for the marriage of Miss Dorothy Mary Demas, daughter of Mr, Samuel Demas and the late Mrs, Demas of Kapuskasing to Mr. Stanley Michael Yaromy, son of Mr. and Mrs, Michael Yaromy of Brandon, Manitoba, Father Morris offic- iated for the wedding and altar boys were Paul Marcella and Eddie Sheehan Jr, Mrs. Ed Pineault presided at the organ accompany- (Cont. on next col.) Page 5 AROUND THE TOWN (Cont.) ing Mrs. Ed Sheehan who sang "On This Day" Shubert's "Ave Maria", "Jesus Sweet Jesus Come" and during the signing of the register "Sweet Savior Bless Them Ere They Go" and Mr, Chris Demas sang sae Of The Mighty Father", The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a strapless gown of illusion net over taffeta and hooped satin, The dress, featuring lace inserts in the ' bodice and bouffant skirt was topped with a lace jacket. with stand-up collar, Her chapel veil of illusion net was held by a flat heart-shaped headdress, and she carried a nosegay of white roses and lily of the valley. Mrs. Ann Demas was matron of honour for her sister-in-law, and bridesmaid was Mrs. Nora Carriere, Mrs. Demas and Mrs, Carriere chose identical gowns of waltz length chiffon over net and taffeta, Taffeta boleros were worn over the halter top gowns. They wore velvet bandeaus of leaves to match their gowns and shoes, white gloves and each carried a' cascade of white mums and lily of the valley. Mrs, Demas! dress was in lime green while Mrs, Carriere's was shrimp-coloured, The flower girl, Miss Christie Demas, neice of the bride, wore a full skirted taffeta dress in l#emon yellow with a ruffled top which held with a black vel- vet sash, The lemon colour was repeated in her velvet headdress and she carried a nosegay of tiny red rose buds and pom poms, tied with mauve tulle, Mr, Steini Jacobson was groomsman while ushers- were Mir. Chris Demas and AL Regis, A wedding breakfast at Hotel Terrace for the family and' bridal party followed the ceremony, Nr. Al McColl was Master .of Ceremonies, ir, Chris Demas proposed the toast to the bride, and Mr, George Walsh proposed the toast to the bride's attendants to which Mr, Jacobson responded, The three-tiered wedding cake sur- rounded by tulle offset the head table, flanked by tall white tapers in silver' candlelabra, The cake was iced to repeat the lily of the valley in the bride's bouquet, and topped by a bride and groom under an arch of lily of the valley. A reception from two till four that afternoon was held at Hotel Terrace, Tea was poured by Mrs, Al McColl and Mrs, Reg Fawcett and servitors were Miss Deloris McBride, Mrs, Al Resis and Mrs, E, Sheehan, Gifts were shown at their apartment in (Cont. on page 8 )
