( HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION HOLD FIRST MENTING With Mrs. Don Porter in the chair, the first mceting of the fall session of the Terrace Bay Home and School Association opened with the singing of "0 Canada", Minutes of the last mecting were read by Mrs, Frank Ginn, also a report from the committee of the proposed Parents Highway Patrol, Treasurer's report was given by Mr. Joe Wig, Mrs. Porter mentioned the meetings would be held the third Monday of each month, and as this was a rather unique association with the three schools combining in one Home and School, she hoped it would continue to grow so successfully in the future as it has in the past. Mrs, Verne Hopper read the Home and School Creed. Principals of the three schools were introduced and they in turn introduced their teachers, Mr, C, BE, Paget, chairman of the Improvement District of Terrace Bay spoke on the speed limits on Highway 17 through Terrace Bay. Mr. Paget also read several letters from Mr, Bickle and Mr, Wardrope on the subject and then answered the many questions and possible suggestions made from the floor. Miss Lois Windle entertained the group with some movie pictures taken during her tour of the British Isles and Europe last summer, lirs, Porter thanked both Miss Windle and Mr, Paget for their part in the evening's programme. Mrs. Jan Nelson and her committee served a very lovely lungheon during the social hour. 0-0-0 PREMIER FROST LEAVES TREASURY POST, CHANGES INVOLVE §& CABINET POSTS Cabinet changes were effected by Premier Leslie M,. Frost on Wednesday, August 17th, bringing in two new members in the Exegutive Council and involving eight cabinet posts, Mr, Frost relinquished the post of Provincial Treasurer which he had held con- tinuously since 1943, The new Treasurer is Hon. Dana Porter, who transferred from the Attorney-General's Department. Succeeding Mr, Porter as Attorney- General was Mr, A, Kelso Roberts, 9.C., member for Toronto St, Patrick. Planning and Development Minister William K, Warrender became Vice-Chairman of the Hydro-Electric Power Commission and Minister without portfolio in replacement of Hon. W. Hon. George H, Dunbar transferred from Municipal Affairs to the Provincial Secretary's Department. Hon. William A. Goodfellow became Minister of Municipal Affairs, after having held the Public Welfare portfolio for many years, The new Minister of Public Welfare is Hon. Louis P, Cecile, until then Minister of Travel and Publicity. Succeeding ifr, Cecile was Mr. Bryan L, Cathcart, member for Lambton West. The new ministers were sworn into office on the same day before Hon. Louis O, Breithaupt, Lieutenant-Governor, 0-0-0 KIWANIS NEWS This year, as in the past the Kiwanis Club will be pliitting on a gala party for the children on Hallowe'en night.
