Volume 5, No. 20 MEN'S CHORUS PRESENTS SECOND ANNUAL CONCERT MAY 20TH Just a year ago, the people of Terrace Bay attended, with some misgivings, the first concert of the Terrace Bay Men's Chorus. They left the Auditorium marveling at the fine performance that "just a bunch of our guys" had put on. A year has passed, and the chorus is ready to present another concert. Behind them is last year's concert, the Big Sing at Fort William, the Big Sing at Rochester, Minn., and a combined concert in Cadott, Wisconsin, The Second Annual Concert will be presented Friday night in the High School Auditor- ium at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are 75¢ for adults and 35¢ for children, and may be obtained from chorus members or at the door. They promise a full evening of entertainment, Correction: Last week's "News" stated that the Men's Chorus would sing in Marathon on May 29th. It should have been Tuesday, May 24th, We have just received word thet the chorus has also scheduled a concert in Red Rock, It will be presented by the Red Rock Athletic and Recreation Council on Wednesday evening, June 8th. 0-0-0 SOFTBALL SEASON OPENS SUNDAY MAY 22ND Mr. D. C. Porter, Mill Manager, has been invited to pitch the first ball at 1:30 p.m. this coming Sunday, thereby declaring open our 1955 Softball season. Assisting the chucker in the opening ceremonies will be Doctor Hugh Campbell at bat with Chairman of the Improvement (Cont. on next col,) LARGEST CIRCULATION IN TERRACE BAY May 19, 1955. SOFTBALL SEASON OPENS SUNDAY (Cont.) District, Mr. C, BE, Paget trying to catch the "sizzler" that Hugh may miss. Following this ceremony, the Softball Schedule of 1955 will get under-~ way with last year's runner-up shift #4 - Structural strengthened by the former Towns ite-Maintenance team meeting Shift #3. The 1954 Champs shift #2 managed by ~~ Softball" Bill Guest will be hard at it working for their bread and butter. So that we may offer to the public the best brand of softball, it was necessary to reduce our League to five teams, Salary, Shift #1, Shift #2, Shift #3 and Shift #4 Structural-Townsite-Maintenance, What with the All Stars coming under the jurisdiction of the Associatior and plans formulating for a more balanced schedule to have visiting teams of the area appear on our diamond, it is expected that our previous record of 12,000 season attendance will be shattered. Softball Schedule for Week of May 22nd Sun. May 22nd at 1:30 p.m. Shift #4 vs. Shift #3 Mon, May 23rd at 6:30 pem. Shift #2 vs. Salary Wed, May 25th at 6:30 p.m. Shift #3 vs. Shift #1 It was the intention of the Assoc-. iation to conduct a free "giveeaway" with all contributions, similar to those conducted by movie houses in the line of dishes, glasses and flatware, Since this good thought seems impossible for this season, though it will be on record for ensuing officers, once again we present for you same enthusiasm our last season's method of attendance prize.
