RECREATION FLYER TENNIS CLUB The first annual meeting of the Terrace Bay Tennis Club was held on Monday, May 2nd, and, although a minimum turned out there was evidence of a maximum of inter- est. Suggestions were flying and below is a list of just a few things which you as a tennis club member can cXpect this year. l. 260 he De _ this direction. 'their game. This season we hope to have an Instructor from our town assist and téach those interested in the game, Our idea of leaving. the courts unlocked this year was vetoed because it was felt that there would be a possibility of bicycle riders ruining the courts, Instead each member is to be issued with a key in order that he or she may use the court whenever the urge confronts them, 'Since our prime motive this year _ will be to swell the ranks of tennis players we felt that a 'small membership fee as opposed to a large one would help us in The fee for the coming season will be 50¢ per member which will cover the cost of your own p-rsonal key. Member- ships and keys may be obtained at the office with the only restriction being that eveyone desiring to join the Tennis Club must also hold a recreation member- ship. Through the year we will be trying to promote tournament play with places like Schreiber and Marathon which will serve as an incentive for all to improve It was mentioned that we might be getting a number of Schreiber people joining our club. i There were some at the meeting who thought that the courts could use a general cleanup and paint job, and quite rightly so. Since the courts are to be maintained this year by the Recreation Dept. we will do our utmost to have the courts in top shape, the practice boards repaired, and it is hoped an entire new paint job. Night lighting was another dream expressed and it might very well become a reality in the future if interest in Tennis warrants it. (Cont. on next col.)
