tt EXERCISES Tie 'second commencement exercises were held last Friday evening November 5th for a small audience of parents and friends of the Terrace Bay Continuation School, Mr. E, Cavanaugh was the chairman for the evening. The program opened with the singing of "0 Canada" followed by Mr, Cavanaugh introducing Mr. David Locking, the principal of the High School, Mr, Locking reported on the progress of the School during the past year, and explained the reasons why the High School students have homework, Mr. Locking then introduced the Grade XIII students, Richard Marcella, Bill Marsh, Ray Husband, and. Vince Kenney. Mr. W. Fedechko introduced the val- edictorian for the Class of 54, Ray Hus- band, Ray's address was well delivered and timely, He thanked the parents for the encouragement they have given them. He mentioned the untiring efforts of thé Prep and the future of his classmates of : a sabato of the school board, Mr. H. C, Laundy was called upon to present the diplomas and award the prizes, Mr, Laundy was assisted by Mr, O'Leary and Mr. Fedechko, High School Graduation Diplomas were presented to Myrna Rhae Gordon, Mavis MacFadyen, Ray Husband, Vincent V Kenney, and William Marsh, Intermediate certificates were presented to Helen Laundy, Joyce Sitch, Rita Vezina, James Erickson, Paul Marcella, Philip Miller, Ross Mitchell, and Edwin Nicol, Mavis MacFadyen was awarded the prize for the student contributing most to the school, She was Secretary Treasurer of the Students! Council for two years, Miest for HMS Pinafore, participant _ sports, anda sound student. Pro- ficicucy awards went to Donna Lohr, Grade XI; Joyce Sitch, Grade X; no awards were given to Grade XI'.or Grade XII, Honourable mention was made for those attaining perfect attendance: Margaret Milks, Marvin Steen, Grade IX; Daniel Kenney, Edwin Nicol, -- Grade X; Marlene Steen, Grade XI; and ~~ Vincent Kenney, Grade XII. Mr, Laundy introduced Mr. A, Stevens, .who acdressed the attending group as a high school father, Mr. Stevens held the attention of both the students and their parents, as he carefully gave reasons why young people should not leave school.
