AROUND THE TOWN (Cont, ) Mrs, Stan Lavender with Douglas' and Stanley arrived from Rainy River, Ont. ' two weeks ago and will remain until the end of July as guests of Reverend and Miss Lavender, Mavis Thorsteinson left Sunday for Winnipeg to visit with Dodie wntil the middle of August when Dodie will return with her for her holidays. Mr. and Mrs. L. Aber of Toronto are arriving this weekend to visit with Mrs, Aber's sister Millie Welsh for a week, Mrs. Gould of Strathroy, Ontario is the guest of her son, Fred Gould and family. Mrs. Doris Dodd and Judith of Fort William arrived Monday to visit for a week with Mr. and Mrs, C. Knauff. Mr. and Mrs. Blake Clark and Margaret are visiting with Dot and Paul Coupal. Earl Gardiner and Harold Wheeler of Kapuskasing spent July lst holiday in Terrace Bay. Mrs. Maurice Landry and two children Rayetta and Dennis arrived from Chalk River, Ontario last week as a guest of her sister Mrs, Nap Bowhie, Mr. Landry will arrive this week to join his family on their visit here. The Dim Bulbs held their monthly meeting Tuesday, June 29th at the home of Betty Turner. Lois Haviland presided 'over the meeting and minutes' were read by Mary Byers. Eleanor Ruzyski gave the Treasurer's report, Bridge was played during the evening with Ev Garvin winning first prize and Eleanor Ruzyski the booby. A very beauti- ful luncheon was served by the hostess assisted by Lil Harris and Ethyl Boyd. The next meeting will be held July 27th at the home of Sheila Swaresh, 0-0-0 Lost Smail white Persian Cat with one blue eye and one green eye lost Saturday night. Reward, Phone 492 or contact House 32, 0-0-0 FISH AND GAME NEWS PAUL COUPAL WINS THE FIRST PRIZE IN THE FOURTH ANNUAL TERRACE BAY FISH DERBY. The Fourth Annual Fish Derby held on the first of July was fairly successful. Everything ran according to schedule, with the exception of the weather, That appears (Cont. on next col.) Page 7 FISH AND GAME NEWS (Cent.) to be the only item that cannot be ordered ahead of time. The day started out with a heavy fog along the shore but this did not stop very many of the local fishermen. The weather cleared near noon and stayed that way the rest of the day, becoming cooler towards evening. The boat launching platform that was installed the previous Saturday was put to good use by the visitors from out of town. It is hoped that this will become a permanent installation, At one time there were fifteen to twenty trailers parked near it. The turn around was a great aid to the traffic proklem and a vote of thanks is extended to all car drivers and boat.house owners for their co-operation. Paul Coupal walked away with the first prize, a 53 H.P. Johnson Silent Motor, and was also presented with the Carlings Conservation Trophy, presented by Stan Berry the Carlings Brewery re- presentative for this section. Doug Moore took second prize, a 30-30 Winchester hunting rifle, donated by the Terrace Bay Cabinet and Repair Shop and the Fish and Game Association.
