FISH AND GAME NEWS . (Cont.) 19th Prize - C. Crockford, Thessalon 3 lbs. 12 oz, 20th Prize - H. Desjardin, Kapuskasing 3 lbs.:10. 02. Smallest Fish - Dr. D, Acal, Terrace Bay. We wish at this time to thank all the merchants that donated prizes and all the people that assisted in many ways to make this Derby a Success. A special vote of thanks goes to Fred Soughton, who did a wonderful job in spite of the fact that the public address system was not quite adequate, to Alex Chisholm the Official Weigher, to Tom Smith, Alex's Assistant, a and to all persons that gave the Fish and Game Association a hand in preparing the mouth of the river for the Annual Derby. o-0-0 TENNIS FEES Several attempts have been made to organize a Tennis Club in Terrace Bay and have a regular executive to run the business of the Club. However, these attempts have all been in vain and so it seems that our tennis players just play when they get the urge or when they can get someone to accept a challenge. Be that as it may, as long as the tennis fans get the necessary satis- faction from that type of play, there is no great need for the organization of an active club, On the other hand, there remains the one item of collection of Tennis Fees to be taken care of, As all members of the Recreation Association know, on the list of activity rates on the reverse side of the pledge cards, the rate for Tennis was shown as $1.00 per season, In order to keep our records straight and help in some small way to pay for the daily maintenance costs of these courts, it is imperative that we attempt to collect these fees as soon as we can. For clarification purposes, the fee for adults will be $1.00 per season; all High School students - .50 per season, and all other School Children will play free, so long as they are covered by Rec- reation Association memberships. These fees are payable at the Recreation Office in the Continuation School, where your membership card will be stamped in the -- space provided for Tennis.- Effective immediately, the Tennis Court keys being held at Waghorn's Drug Store, at the Hotel and the Recreation Office will be issued only to those members in good standing, Page 9 SOFTBALL NEWS (Cont. ) Sunday afternoon saw the fall of the 'mighty! David once again conquered Goliath! Townsite-Maintenance, loser 7 straight, beat Shift #2, winner of 7 straight, by the narrow margain of 6-5. A real thriller, this game certainly gave the crowd their money's worth - and then some. Losing.5-1, T-M scored three runs in the 5th, when Ed Pineault doubled in two runs and scored on two errcrs. T-M was still one run behind in the last of the 7th after two outs and it looked like #2 had won #8 but T-M didn't give up. Marsh walked. Pineault singled. On Keller's single Marsh scored the tying run and in the confusion Pineault and Keller advanced to 2nd and 3rd. Ray Belliveau hit a fly ball which was dropped and Pineault scored thewinning run, It was a very tough game for Ed Aho and mates to lose, but a honey for T-M to win. This could be the start of- better | things for T-M. Keller with 3 for 4 and Pineault with 2 for 4 were tops for T-M. Don Anderson had 2 doubles in 3 trips for #2. Salary . had two good opportunities to catch up, but poor base-running quickly took care of the rallies, Shift #4 definitely played the better game, getting 14 hits to Salary's 7 and erring 5 times to Salary's 8. Salary now has lost 5 straight ball games and people are beginning to wonder if they'll ever win another. Who knows??? Bill Cavanaugh got a home-with one man on base for #4 while Rolly Grishaber tripled for Salary. a5 Line Score Hoe Hai.
