Volume 4, No. 8 CPROTMERMOOD WLER The current week (February 21 to 27th) is observed as Brotherhood Week and is spon-~ sored nationally by the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews. Due observance is being made in Terrace Bay and in Schreiber under the sponsorship of the Knights of Columbus. Last night a Brotherhood Dinner was held at the Hotel Terrace to which some sixty men of the two communities,as well as Mara- thon and Rossport, gathered in a true spirit of Brotherhood, They represented all walks of life, many creeds and nationalities - each with a single purpose of mind - to promote and maintain World Peace through religious tolerance, to uphold the dignity of man and respect him as our Brother, Guest speaker for the occasion was His Worship Mayor Fred 0, Robinson of Port Arthur who dwelt on the importance of Brotherhood, not only on a national scale, but in our everyday relation with our neighbours-on the job- on the highways - and finally with cur families in the home, He supported his contentions and beliefs by drawing on his wealth of personal experience in his dual role of Mayor of Port Arthur, and as a Lathe Operator in the C.N.R. Shops at the Lakehead, Other speakers were Rev.. A. Lavender of the Community Church of Terrace Bay and Father J. C.McHugh of Holy Angels Parish at Schreiber. Reverend Lavender pointed out the basis and fundamental beliefs that Man clings to andthat are common to every creed, and he urged the assembled gathering to apply these common beliefs in their everyday lives. Schreiber is now second with 11 points and Marathon third with 6 points The next and last tourney will be held in Marathon on Sunday, March 7, 195k. There is only one child City in the world and it is operated by the Loyal Order of Moose. It is called Mooseheart and is located on the beautiful Fox River west of Chicago, Illinc* These pictures are very educational and every one should see them.
