RADIO GREMLINS SOON TO GO ON STRIKE 4t a recent meeting of the clan of Gremlins which have been plaguing radio reception in Terrace Bay for the past few months, it was decided by 01' man Gremlin that some very definite counterattack must be launched against their "agressors" or the end result would be extinction, This press release was greeted by the te-~ nants of the town with a great deal of Satisfaction, It meant that the offensive launched by the LongLac Pulp and Paper Company in conjunction with the Improvement District to counterattack radio interfere- nee was beginning to take effect. Soon they could hear their favourite radio program. Don Boudreau and Bob Harris, "*the age ressors", have launched a planned program to localize and finally detect a11 inter- ference in the area. To do this they have acquired a Radio Interference Locator, a machine covered with a maize of dials and buttons, reminding one of a lnrge Geiger counter, It is equipped with two antennae, one of the directional type which indica- tes the general direction of the interfe- rence, 'shen this is known the regular type antenna is switched on and by volume recording the exact location of interfe- rence is determined, To date the boys have patrolled the mill and Lake Pumphouse areas and interference which was of very minor nature was eliminated in this loca- lity. On Sundey, little B2z.,.Bzz...Gremlin was found hanging from an insulator on e pole near the emergency light plant in the South Comp, twhen in captivity little Bzz.. B2Zeee Said, "I guess I had you guys fooled for a while hanging up there while you fellows floundered around down here in the deep snow looking for me with your exterminator." "Sherlock" Don Boudreau grilled him with _determinntion. "How is it tmt we only heard you once in a while, B2zz...B2Z..? "I found it very comfortable up there*, answered Bzz...Bzz...But when the wind blew strong in the right direction I got cold end just had to Bzz...B2zz... to keep warm, Both Don and Bob agreed that they were dealing with a very cunning group of under- world scoundrels, The two members of Terrace Bays' R.C. M.P. assigned to this case will next tcn- verge on the townsite, the home of many other radio interference gremlins. It is learned on very good authority that ol! man Gremlin has taught his clan to sing the "Thing", When Don end Bob open up the Page 3 box housing the Radio Interference Locator and start traeking down a hot clue,in the distance coming from high pitched voices can be heard "Get out ta here with thet ------ and don't come back no more", "But we will be back and we'll get them allt, said Sherlock Boudreau as your repor- ter left him to cope with this menace to _"Hopalong Cassidy's" popularity. o-0-0 HOCKEY NEWS Our "Rockets" made the heavy trip to Marethon last weck-end and split on the games, losing to Marathon on Saturday night by the score of 3-1 but came back strongly in White River on Sunday afternoon to win by 2 7-4 margin. Have you started to make up your party for the Hockey Club's Cabaret Dance on Friday, February 16th? Just 3 more weeks to go - no time to lose!! Minor Hockey The Pee Wees haven't progressed much on the ice since last week as this week's games both had to be cancelled due to weather conditions. However, when they do resume play, a couple of chrnges in the line-ups will be worth noticing. Scott Conway has been given his outright release by the Leafs to join the Canucks to help them get that added strength they need. Brian Harvey and Bruce MacDonald have been sold to the Hawks for an undisclosed figure that involved no dher pleyers, It is hoped thnt these changes will help offset some of the loss incurred by Stanley Kowalik and Bobby-Adamo greduating to the Bantams, The Bantams are ever improving in their " quest for the championship of the Schreiber league and to prove that they are not fooling about it, they went in last Saturday morning and won their game by a score of 3-0. The Midgets also are fast improving and all decked out in their new uniforms. They also journeyed into Séhreiber last Monday but came out on the short end of e high (Cont'd on P.6)
