When the first edition was published, the totel number of people associated with the project was about 400, At the peak of construction the total exceeded 2000, The 10 families living in the Townsite in'46 spent Christmas Eve at a partyin one of the newly constructed homes, This Christmas, it required two adjoining halls\ to accommedate the crowd of nearly 600 which attended the Community Christmas Party for adults, while Santa distributed more than 240 gifts to children 15 and under who attended the Townsite Children's Christmas varty, In '46, housewives purchased provisions outside of the community, for there were no stores at Terrace Bay. To-day we have a modern Shopping Centre, In '46, electricity to cook the Christmas dinner came from Diesel generating units. To-day, the community is supplied with power from the new 55,000 h.p, Aguasabon Generating Station of the Hydro Hlectric Power Commiss- ion, In '46, plans were developed whereby Terrece Bay children were taken daily to school in Schreiber. To-day, we have our own modern 7-room school with o kindergarten, In '46, a hotel was just being talked about. To-day, we have a 54-room hotel which will take its place as one of the finest in tae country, Since '46, many community services have expanded or developed including hospital, post office, bank, temporary recreation centre, police protection, firc-fighting, dentist's office, bus service, large well-lighted ice rink, ball field with bleachers for 500, tennis courts, facilities for badminton, and a two-sheet curling rink, The fact that wcll over 100 different persons served on the executives of Terrace Bay clubs and organizations during the past year, speaks for itself. And so it is that we take this opportunity of thanking evcryone who has contributed in any way to the story which has been told in the Terrace Bay News, To all our readers, we extend our very best wishes for a Merry Christuas and a Happy New Year, F. 0.
