Under such conditions strange stories emerge. Locally, Makcolm Spidell, famed "boss of the river drive", has come up with a tale which may or may not fall into the "fish story" class. We'll just tell the story briefly and leave it to our readers to judge. Two or three days ago when the "pee soup" fog was at its thickest, Malcolm and a couple of river men were edging along Hays Lake in one of the boats used in the drives, The boat, equipped for moving through and over logs is known as a "Gaiter'. In the thickness of the fog, the boys lost their way and suddenly realized that the boat was no longer in the water when it bumped "nto a big tree at least 500 feet from the lake shore. And as if that was not enough, Malcolm asserts that the fog was so thick it took almost two hours to relocate Hays Lake. 0-0-0
