Anyone apprehended by officers of the Fish and Wild Life Division of the Dept. @& Lands and Forests with illegally shot moos« 01 deer Will be subject to penalties ranging from fines of $20 to $200.00 and confiscation of any vehicles engaged in the out-of- season shooting. Despite the fact that Terrace Bay nimods have been trying to track down the "big fellas" the total bag for the six-week season amounted to only 4 moose and one deer. Credit for moose goes to Carl Mageron, Ton; D-laronde; a party consisting of Bill Pryde, Rae Fleydling and Len Cox, and a fourth party - the accounting department duo of Rupe Clowes and Paul "bring em back alive" Boud:eai. Paul, incidentally, bagged a moose during . the '46 season. Although many deer were seen in these parts even on "untenanted Terrace Bay streets" during the earlier part of the season, the ~n.y successful deer hunter was Jack Enstrom who bagged a beautiful buck. pie 'O « PROMPT ACTION CURBS FIRE At 9:20 a.m. on Friday Nov. lst workmen were using welding eq} > ent at the top of the large doors at the southwest end of the pulp S orage Building in the Millsite area. The walls and ceilings of the building are of fireproof material and everything appeared to be in order for the workmen to proceed with their job. 'Sparks from the welding equipment, however, flew into 3 small crack in the wall setting the wood..r on fire. ylorkmen standing by with first aid fire fighting equipment endeavoured to extinguish the blaze, but they were unable to do so. The Terrace Bay fire department was clled. Not content to wait for the arrival of fire fighting equipment the volunteer fire fighters went into action and had the 25" nos2 in use before the arrival of Fire Chief Geo. Maitland and his men. This prompt aci°°n on the part of those on the scene no doubt prevented the fire from spreading,and Chicf initland was loud in praise of those who acted so promptly. BORON! is 4 te PROGRESS ON CURLING RINK REPORTED With all the mudsills in place and more than tio-toirds of the wall sections prefabricated ready for erection, excellent progress j- -.rarted on the two-sheet curling rink which is being built at Terrace Bay. As we rioted last week,curling stones have been procured and in general, everything is shaping up for che forth-coming curling season. On Thursday evening, Nov. e7th, in the terrace Bay Recreation Hall all curlers in the community will meet to elect the permancut executive for the coming season and to decide a number of important policy matters. Actual erection of the building will comacnee. during the coming week-end of Nov. && and 30, and everyone is urged to make s special effort to be on hand at the curling rink site behind the Terrace Bay recreation hail «s much as possible over the weekend. The bulk of the work, of course, will be done on Sunday with one shift operating from 9 - l¢ a.m. and the other shift commencing their 'ities at 1:00 o'clock.
