TOWNSITE PROGRESSING (by Editor - Bob Sheppard) Construction progress in the Townsite in the past month has been remarkable. The foundations for all of the 1947 houses are completed, This feat was accomplished many weeks ahead of schedule and is a note of pride to all those connected with this phase of the job, The sewer and water lines in town are nearing completion and this is enabling a more concentrated effort to be brought to bear upon the rest of the 1947 program, Of interest to the town people is the progress being made in the permanent shopping centre. The excavation for the foundation is complete and already the footings have been poured, Form work erection continues in preparation for the pouring of the basement floor slab and the walls. A storm sewer has already been layed which will solve the problem of rain water disposal. The Boiler house and hotel areas have been cleared. The Boiler house which will house the boilers to generate steam for heating the shopping centre and other commercial buildings as well as the hotel, is in preparation for construction. The streets leading to the hotel area have been cleared and are being used as access routes to this area for construction purposes. The main trunk sewer line of the town which will transport all of the . sewage from the various branch lines to the sewage disposal plant is now under con- struction. Upon the completion of this line, construction of the sewage disposal plant, in an area south of the townsite which is now being cleared, will commence, The plant consists of a primary sedimentation tank and a vast tile field to handle the effluent. The plant will be of relatively simple construction but the most adaptable for the local geological conditions and for this reason was chosen from many other proposed methods, i Periodically through the progress of construction, it has been possible to obtain gravel from the millsite for road surfacing. This has made it possible to more easily control the dust caused by the many trucks travelling the townsite roads. Road maintenance will also prove much easier and more economical by this innovation. Terrace Bay is expanding fast - construction of new houses is going ahead very well - 39 houses of the 1947 program have been erected = and as each new move is made, we realize that many of our dreams of the town beautiful are or soon will be coming to pass. FISH AND GAME ASSOCIATION ANGLERS' CONTEST Peter Leschuk (Fraser-Brace) went out and did it again. On Aug. 10th, Pete caught himself a 12 lb, 7 oz. pike to take over undisputed leadership in Class III of our contest and last Sunday while trolling off Victoria Cape, Pete latched on to a Lake Trout which weighed in at 9 lbs. 13 oz. on the scales of the official Judge, Postmaster Ed Cavanaugh. This gave Pete leadership also in Class II. Classes I and IV are for Speckled Trout and Pickerel respectively. In all
