Reverend Garwood George Russell served as the minister of St. James Anglican Church in St. Marys for three and a half years, beginning in November of 1960 and ending in 1964, when he moved to preach at St. George's Anglican Church in Goderich.

Rev. Russell was born in Stratford in June 1926 and graduated from the University of Western Ontario and Huron College. He was ordained in 1951. Russell and his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Lovey, moved to St. Marys with their young children in 1960 after his previous appointment at St. Andrew's Church in Tilbury.
