Description
This is an image of Palmer Park in Detroit. It shows a lake with a couple islands, along with the mainland behind. On one little island, there is a lighthouse.

The Palmer Park Lighthouse is located in Lake Frances, within view of the log cabin at the park. It is thought the lighthouse was built prior to 1900. This lighthouse was restored in 2021 in order to enhance this landmark.

U.S. Senator Thomas Witherell Palmer donated the land for the park on the condition that the virgin forest would be preserved. He originally called it Log Cabin Park, but in 1897, the park was officially named Palmer Park.

This photo belongs to the Reesor Collection, which is a group of photos taken by Milton W. Reesor, a local amateur photographer. He took many photos of friends, family, animals, outdoor activities, machinery, the railway, and more in and around St. Marys from 1898-1910.
