Description
This is an image of a floral clock located at the Waterworks Park in Detroit.

This floral clock was located on land purchased for a new waterworks plant for the growing city. The land became a public park, the Water Works Park, in addition to housing the plant in the late 1800s. The park, also known as Gladwin Park for some time, had over 100 acres of land and was home to various attractions and activities. It was closed during both World Wars and the Korean War due to security concerns with the city's water supply. The greenspace of the Water Works Park has since closed to the public permanently. The floral clock at the park was unveiled in 1893 and it was designed by the superintendent of the park's grounds, Elbridge A. Scribner. This floral clock was near the entrance and was powered by water pressure. It was approximately eight feet tall and its face and edges were covered in flowers and greenery. In 1934, the clock was bought by Henry Ford and moved to Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan, where it ran on electricity. It later moved to Belle Isle.

This photo belongs to the Reesor Collection, which is a group of photos taken by Milton W. Reesor, a local amateur photographer. He took many photos of friends, family, animals, outdoor activities, machinery, the railway, and more in and around St. Marys from 1898-1910.
