- Description
- This is an image of a statue of Kaiser Wilhelm I in Berlin's Victoria Park. The city of Berlin underwent a name change in 1916, becoming Kitchener. The lake is in the background of this image.
The bust of Kaiser Wilhelm I, originally from Germany, was thrown in the lake at the park in August 1914 and stolen in 1916, likely due to controversy during the first World War. After it was stolen, the bust was never seen publicly again.
This photo belongs to the Reesor Collection, which is a group of photos taken by Milton W. Reesor, a local amateur photographer. He took many photos of friends, family, animals, outdoor activities, machinery, the railway, and more in and around St. Marys from 1898-1910. - Inscriptions
