- This is an image of Isabelle Chesterfield (far right) and three of her friends from the Canadian Women's Army Corps (CWAC). This photo was taken during CWAC training in the winter. All four women are dressed up in their CWAC uniform, including hats and long coats.
Isabelle Florence Chesterfield was the youngest child and daughter of James Allen Chesterfield and Annie Wilson. She joined CWAC in November of 1941 and was one of 57 women who graduated the program in September 1942. This made her a Second Lieutenant at Corps Training Centre, though she was later promoted to Captain. Isabelle served for nearly 10 years, including some time spent overseas.
