- Description
- This photograph shows an aerial view of Thamescrest (or Thames Crest) Farms in St. Marys. Behind the farm, you can see the Sarnia Bridge over the Thames River. You can also see Arthur Meighen Public School on the opposite side of the tracks.
Thamescrest Farms was a Holstein Cattle and mink operation established by Edgar Hooper shortly before he died in 1932. Mr. Hooper left the business to his three sons, Harold, Earl, and Wilbert. The brothers purchased 285 Emily Street North, the house adjacent to the property, in 1944. Thamescrest farms prospered throughout the region for decades, but the property eventually sold and is now under development for a residential area (August 2018). - Notes
