- Description
- Photograph taken from the west embankment of the Thames River, overlooking Rice Lake and downtown St. Marys beyond.
Rice Lake was formed by the creation of our present dam, which was constructed from stone and concrete in a six-week period in 1908 by the George Carter Company. The dam created a mill pond so large it created a small lake, which was named Rice Lake after H.L. Rice, the owner of the company at the time. - Notes
