- This is a photograph of the James Purdue Adult Workshop & Training Centre in 1978. The workshop was located at 36 Ingersoll Street, which is now a private residence.
The James Purdue Adult Workshop and Training Centre was the beginnings of what is now known as St. Marys Community Living. It opened in 1967 and was focused on education and training. In the late 1970s, the association began to support people in their homes.
In November 1978, a new community living centre opened on the corner of Elgin and James Streets. Community Living still operates from this location today (July 2018). They focus on creating a community where everyone belongs and can lead a good life. - Notes
