- Description
- This is a photo of the First Presbyterian Church, located at 147 Widder Street East. The church was built in 1879-1880, during a period when every congregation in St. Marys underwent major building projects.
At one time, the First Presbyterian Church was one of two Presbyterian Churches in St. Marys. The construction of the First Presbyterian Church coincided with the construction of the other Presbyterian Church that once existed in St. Marys, the Knox Presbyterian Church. The congregations had recently split, and remained split until the 1950s,
when they decided to merge. The First Presbyterian Church is now the only Presbyterian Church in St. Marys, as the Knox Presbyterian Church was torn down after the congregations merged. - Notes
- Condition: good - some discolouration on back.
