- Description
- This image is one in a series of postcards from the Reg Near collection. This postcard commemorates Christmas. The postcard depicts Santa Claus and his helpers, all dressed in red and white. One helper is handing Santa Claus a table, while the others are working on building objects in the background. This image of Santa in a red and white suit gained popularity in the early 1900s, but the legend of Santa Claus originated long before that. Santa evolved from a man called St. Nicholas who was known for giving gifts and helping the poor.
This postcard was sent on December 20, 1920. - Notes
