- Dorothy Eedy was born in 1924 in Prince George, BC to parents Helga and Lars Strom. At age eighteen Dorothy married John W. Eedy who was originally from Ontario but was stationed in Prince George for training purposes during WWII. Several years later the couple moved their family to St. Marys, Ontario. Eedy raised five children: John Wilson, Robin Strom, Linda Mae, Richard Lorne and Lars Edwin.
Eedy was very involved in the community as a volunteer and as a Sunday School teacher. She sat on numerous boards including the St. Marys Public School Board, St. Marys United Church, St. Marys Community Living, UCW, Inner Wheel, IODE and the St. Marys Library among many others. She also had a lifestyle and cooking column featured weekly in the Journal-Argus called "Eat at Our House". The articles included a range of topics from home recipes to commentary on daily life and local news. She wrote the column for over 60 years. - Subject(s)
