- An article written by local columnist Dorothy Mae Eedy titled "Post office offers magazine service". The article is about the various magazines available in Canada (e.g. Chatelaine, Maclean's, Canadian Geographic) and the magazine service that was available at the St. Marys Post Office at the time. This service allowed Eedy and her husband to have all their subscriptions sent down to them while they wintered in Arizona.
Eedy also describes her interest in a report in the July 3 issue of Maclean's that year. The report was called "Portrait of Two Nations". Eedy also briefly writes about her experience in Newfoundland and how it was similar to the experience of the editor of the aforementioned report.
Recipes included in the article: "Chicken fruit salad" and "Curried egg-chicken-cantaloupe cut-up".
