- Description
- This image is one in a series of postcards from the Reg Near collection. It depicts a group standing in Island Park, looking north. It was originally built to draw water from the mill pond that was created in the 1850s. In the 1930s, flood and man-made damages nearly eradicated the island, but in 1980, the millrace was restored by the Town of St. Marys with the help of a subsidy from the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority.
